London, May 2026
Jean-Philippe Blondet, chef patron at the three‑Michelin‑starred Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London, has been distinguished with one of France’s most prestigious honors. The French Republic has appointed him Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit, a recognition reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to agriculture and its related industries.
Established in 1883, the Ordre du Mérite Agricole is regarded as second only to the Legion of Honour in importance. Blondet received the award this week during a ceremony at Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris, joining a select group of professionals whose work has shaped the culinary and agricultural landscape.
Reflecting on the accolade, Blondet expressed humility and gratitude: “I feel very fortunate to have worked with globally renowned chef Alain Ducasse for over two decades, and I remain passionate about showcasing my work worldwide.”
Blondet’s career trajectory underscores his dedication to haute cuisine. He began at Spoon at Sanderson in London before moving to Le Louis XV Alain Ducasse at l’Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, later expanding his experience at Spoon in Hong Kong. In 2013, he joined Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester as sous chef, rising to head chef in 2015 and executive chef in 2016. His leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the restaurant’s three‑Michelin‑star status.
In addition to this latest honor, Blondet was named Hotel Restaurant Chef of the Year at the Hotel Cateys in 2021, further cementing his reputation as one of the most influential chefs of his generation.
